"No, Not Yet"
The anime looks great, even with the exaggerated moves. I've also read that the manga, which began in 1999, is only set to finish later this year! 8 years running?! So cool!
Nap also mentioned that there's a live action version! Of course, I looked it up. I was a bit disappointed that it was only a movie (not a series). I also checked YouTube, and I got to watch the movie trailer -- I liked it! I'm still undecided whether to watch the movie from YouTube, or wait for a higher quality version (probably from Mike)..
---
I used to watch a lot of tennis back in high school. I was introduced to it by no less than Noel Singidas! Haven't played the sport yet, though..
Anyway, I was prompted to post something like this because I wouldn't pass up on this:
Nalbandian knocks off Federer again
(Davydenko's serving draws rebuke from chair umpire)
I don't watch any tennis now, so I'm not familiar with the players, but how the current No. 1 lost consecutive matches with a particular player IS COOL!
Another thing worth pointing out is that subtitle -- a player "was fined $2,000 by the ATP for "lack of best effort"". Whoa. Tennis is hardcore!

Can't Get Rid Of This Creepy Feeling
biting my thigh. I flail my limbs around.
After surveying the area, I tried to get back to sleep. I figured I
might've just imagined it -- despite finding some mark under my thigh
that resembled a cockroach bite. It felt like one, too. But I did have
to wake up at 7am, since I'm meeting with Nap at 9am. I just wondered
whether one can have nightmares about feelings of touch. I shiver.
Just a couple of minutes later, I hadn't even closed my eyes yet, I
feel something crawl up my knee. More flailing of limbs. I look around
again and I actually find a medium-sized cockroach! I ran out of the
room to get the spray can of Baygon I had just near our doorway. I got
the roach in a single spray. Relief. For me.
I put back the spray can. As I turned around to get back into the
room, I see an almost identical cockroach! But it was different. It
was bathing in Baygon, but it just kept crawling away. It was able to
fall off six stair steps, withstanding five more sprayings, before
turning turtle. Not much relief for me.
I am now in another bed, in another room in the staffhouse, still
trying to ignore this feeling I have under my skin.

Considering
Damn You..
Manuel L. Quezon III's round-up of blogger accounts of the event.
Inquirer.NET's special section.
Commuter's Survey
3. Magkano pamasahe mo?
Ngayong may service na, wala na. =p
4. Gaano katagal ang byahe mo?
Ngayong may service na, mga 1 hour.
6 . Mahilig ka ba sumakay sa "patok"?
Di ko alam yung "patok"..
7. Bakit?
N/A
Double-R.
11. Gusto mo ba ng loud music?
No. Well, most of the time. =p
Yup. Kakilala ni Kei yung driver! =D
23. Naranasan mo na bang ma-stranded sa daan?
Yup. Madali ma-stranded pag madaling araw. =p
24. Na-hold-up ka na ba?
Hindi pa naman. Pero nadukutan na ako. Twice na.

Haha.

I waited for yesterday for the entire year, and when yesterday arrived, I'm offline!
Yesterday, September 19, was Talk-Like A Pirate Day!

In lieu of net access, I ENJOYED my entire day. I didn't go to work again! Today, a Thursday, is my first day here in the office this week! *evil grin*

Lotsa News About Me
We've been going to work at the Port Area in Manila for almost 2 months now! We're on-site for a project, and our clients didn't believe us when we said that WE DIDN'T NEED TO BE THERE.
2) New temporary residence
As a result of #1, during weekdays, I'm staying at our "staffhouse". It's an OLD condominium unit owned by the president of our company and, from what I heard, the company is renting it from him. Smart guy.
3) Getting used to the metro
Although the commute from our staffhouse to work is quite easy (20-minute LRT2 + 20-minute jeepney ride), I'm still not used to the city atmosphere: the vehicle fart on the streets, the slight consolation of air-conditioned establishments to pass through which is still far from fresh and, most notable of all, the (unforgivable!) stench of the air at the Port Area!
I really miss the (relatively) fresh air in Los Baños.
Aside from that, I'm getting more and more familiar with Makati. =) I've been enjoying more dates with Kei!
4) Trying to get into the metro
I've already mentioned before that I don't care anymore whether the higher-ups at work read my blog.
Since we've moved to Manila, I've become more active in looking for a job near Makati. The only thing our office had that kept me from moving to Makati was that it was located in Laguna -- and they've taken that away! We were promised that we would be on-site in Manila for only around 2 months. If that was the case, then why the heck did they pull-out all our stuff in our Laguna office and bring it to our main office in Pasay?!
---
That's it I guess.. not a lot, after all.
Oh. I got fatter.
---
I REALLY had to post somtehing. Especially since I didn't go to work today and stayed at home in LB (FTW!).. =p

Animé Pet Peeve
Using the combination of the following techniques -- IN A SINGLE ANIMÉ EPISODE:
- Pointless repetitive animation (a.k.a. stock footage) to lengthen a particular scene (most commonly, fight scenes)
- Scenes with excessive silence and *gasp* silent staring, probably to achieve a certain dramatic effect through supposed non-verbal understanding between characters
- Severely stretched out moments, most obvious in chase sequences where both parties are able to think or speak long lines during the chase (sometimes in several non-contiguous scenes) and the surroundings never seem to change, despite supposedly moving in insane speeds (and not going in circles)
Most associated with: Major fight scenes of Dragon Ball Z
Last observed in: Naruto Shippuuden Episode 24 ([1] Gai and Co.'s battles, Sakura's battle with lame geometric shapes; [2] Sakura's battle; [3] Naruto and Kakashi's chase)
---
I left out some other animé pet peeves (awkward poses/positioning of limbs is one other) since they aren't really attributed to Dragon Ball Z, but to animé in general.. Now I see that having a list of just 3 items is a bit awkward..
Anyway, I think these things are merely the result of poor translation of the scenes from the manga..
Geeeek
- http://www.nuklearpower.com/daily.php?date=070707 -- I've forgotten about sharing this last month: Here's what Brian Clevinger's says about the new Transformers movie:
So the new Transformers movie is better than it had any reason to be. Sure, there were plot holes big enough for Optimus to drive through, but when your premise begins with the phrase, "There's an interplanetary civil war between an alien race of super robots," you kind of go with it.
My one complaint is that the movie lacked the phrase "Decepticreeps." And, similarly, though Ironside stole every scene where he spoke, the noted absense of his rallying cry -- "...bust some Deceptichops" -- did not go unnoticed. But, hey, that's why they make sequels.

Reunion Dream
After another superhero dream, I dreamt I was in our kitchen, where I noticed a stack of old pamphlets, about one foot high. I don't know why I did, but I started scanning the pamphlets looking for "Singidas". An inch from the top of the stack, I got a glimpse of the name. Shock.
Suddenly, I was in a place that looked like Glorietta's Activity Center. People swarmed the place. I was approaching a bench, where a group of people where exchanging earphones. Among them was Noel Singidas.
Non-chalantly, I sat beside him, but we hardly talked. He was talking with his companions, and I noticed that, while the others had portable CD players and small MP3 players, Noel was clutching -- you wouldn't guess this -- a VHS tape. Someone I didn't quite recognize but surely was a common friend, pointed at the VHS. Noel said that it contained MP3s, converted. I silently chuckled, thinking of ways to help him improve his portable audio situation.
I almost interrupted him when I said that I remember the time when we had to edit VHS tapes manually, when we had to snip the tape and put it back together with Scotch tape. He just had a blank stare. I said that we were groupmates back in first-year high school with Selwyn Bantang. Then he smiled. He said that he did remember that. I felt relieved. (That didn't actually happen, the part where we snipped VHS tapes)
We were now lying down on the length of the bench, and we had a clear view of the people going down an escalator. I recognized PAL and Joshua Trocino and I called out, waved at them and pointed at Noel beside me. They didn't react until they were almost at the foot of the escalator, and I saw PAL's eyes shoot wide open. It was a great effort to keep myself from crying.
It seemed like a reunion, when I looked around. I could see almost every clique from high school. Batchmates kept coming to see Noel. Edsel Uy even gave him a big, big hug.
Out of nowhere, Noel caught a basketball in his hands. I looked around to see where it came from, and I noticed that we were by some beach. Puzzling.
Then, I woke up.

Finally?
I won't post any details yet.. Just that I already asked for his contact details from someone.. I just hope that that person knows the same Noel Singidas that we do..

A Tinge Of Geekiness
It really irritates me when people say things like "we don't need stars in the game industry." What they generally mean is "so-and-so acted like an idiot and I don't like that," or alternatively "I don't want to have to pay you more."
The fact is that, we have stars. We just don't acknowledge them. Which is why this is both hilarious and sad.
Follow the link (http://www.youhaventlived.com/qblog/2007/QBlog240607B.html)! It's an anecdote about the creators of MUD showing off to a kid gamer at a store -- 5w337! Now that is one thing I would just love to do..

Lots of quotes, some good, some bad: http://www.witty-quotes.com/all_1.html
The AlphaGrip AG-5 (http://www.extremetech.com/article2/0,1697,1949084,00.asp): Nap and I were conceptualizing something like this a decade ago, but it was a general-purpose humanoid robot controller (read: mech/a) and not a keyboard replacement -- this is nothing, though: with what we had thought of then, you could twist the controller and it could represent something like pitch or yaw in a flight simulation and you still had something like the PlayStation controller's analog joysticks. This AlphaGrip thing is still kinda cool, if what the makers claim is true, where with around 30-60 hours of touch-typing practice, you could still reach 60 words-per-minute with it! =D

Keyboard Pet Peeve No More!
Earlier today, I have finally found a free utility to remap any keyboard button!
Enter AutoHotKey (http://www.autohotkey.com/).
It's a cool utility that manages all standard input devices: keyboard, mouse and joystick. With it, you can create macros and can auto-expand abbreviations (ala programming IDE templates). It runs on plain-text script files, but it also has a compiler which generates a script's corresponding executable (.exe) file that can be used on computers that don't have it installed.
Now that darned Macro key has been re-mapped to Right Shift. =D
So cool. I definitely have no other use for it, but it's still pretty cool. =)
Transformers Post
- Costumes Transformers (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=akNJ6S2UqsE)
- I already posted a (different) link to this video before, but this had to belong to a dedicated Transformers post. These are the BEST and COOLEST Transformers I have ever seen! It really looked like they took their time designing them, except for the first one -- and Starscream -- errr, maybe just Optimus Prime. I was surprised when I saw the transformation: the front of the legs unfolded forward, the torso also folded out! the arms locked into place at his side -- and he rolled! I silently chuckled in admiration when he had to shrug his shoulders to set his arms loose. =)
- Real Transformer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=STQ3nhXuuEM)
- A video of a remote-controlled car which suddenly opens up and transforms into a two-legged humanoid robot that walks! And it can transform back into a car, too!
- Robo-One 9: Robot Competition - LAYERED-X (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0m_cCP1wn94)
- Its description reads:
One of the most surprising robots that appeared at the 9th Robo-One competition held here in Tokyo on March 18-19th, 2006, was LAYERED-X developed by Asurada. Its unique design allows it to reconfigure and transform itself into some amazing shapes. At first it looks like a short tower, then becomes a carousel, then a walking spider, then into a tall biped battle robot. It can even transform an arm into a new leg and keep on fighting. Really amazing. For the latest robot news, information, hacks, photos, and videos with special on-site coverage from Japan, see Robots Dreams at http://www.robots-dreams.com
Japanese ingenuity. - Robot Chicken Clip - Optimus Prime gets Prostate Cancer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZWYOQoui6Ks)
- I've watched a couple of other Robot Chicken episodes, and it's actually cool!
- The Rude Awakening of Optimus Prime (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bq1_6D9QS9Y)
- Description:
Optimus Prime is brought back to life in the year 2006 to find that many things have changed since his death.
Totally hilarious mutilation and re-dub of the Generation-2 episode where Optimus Prime was resurrected.
Not The Usual Way..
---
- The Most Beautiful Machine (http://www.kugelbahn.ch/sesam_e.htm)
- Funny! It's a trunk/chest, and when you press the button that opens it, a while later, a prosthetic arm/hand comes out and closes it! Would like to see this in a "haunted" house.. =D
- If Fire Were Water (http://www.boredstop.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=124&Itemid=37)
- Really cool pics showing stuff usually afire, now a-water. =p I really liked the high-level of detail, especially the fine ripples. You could easily imagine the water flowing (upward, in this case). The condensation on the Zippo lighter was a nice touch. =)
- Is the Sun from another galaxy? (http://www.badastronomy.com/bablog/2007/06/27/is-the-sun-from-another-galaxy/)
- This article debunks the article from a previous link I posted (http://viewzone.com/milkyway.html) claiming that our Solar System actually came from another galaxy, and the Milky Way just stole it. =p
- Pit Bull vs. Porcupine (http://www.boredstop.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=122&Itemid=31)
- Can't add any more words. =p

You Said It Was Dead!
How?
TV output, FTW!
...
Well, not for the win.. it was just a nice save. TV resolution is CRAPPY! I'm typing in 640x480 and the text is still blurry!
Twist!
This post is a bit overdue.
*ehem*
My birthday almost began badly. Monday, June 18, I wasn't able to get out of the office early. June 19 was a holiday. Despite the announcement that we were still requested to go to work, they wouldn't be able to force me. So, our boss just told me to finish some stuff, just so it could be put under QA during the holiday. I only finished at around 10:30pm.
I went home a bit spent and, as I said, my birthday almost began with me feeling not-so-good. Fortunately, I was already talking with Kei on the phone since before midnight. So, I started my birthday with a smile on my face. :)
Tuesday, June 19. My day. :) I woke up at around 9:30am. Finalized some of my plans for the morning, in my head. I got up and out to the dining room/kitchen to see the table already set.
After (a late) breakfast, I turned the PC on. Surfed and chat a bit. The monitor display was flickering. Ma says that she would go next on the PC. Pa called for me, so I momentarily switched to Ma's user account. Had a lengthy conversation with Pa. It was nice. Even before our conversation ended, Ma said that the monitor blacked-out. When I went back to the PC, I found that the monitor was indeed dead. Minor set-back. I was pondering whether to buy the LCD monitor that I had wanted to get since two weeks before. I decided that it would depend on the time I would be able to go to Metro Manila.
The dead monitor wasn't really a big deal. I began preparing to go out to buy my lunch treat. I was thinking: shorts or jeans? slippers or shoes? I settled to wearing shorts and slippers. I went out and walked to Pannie's, my current choice of barber shop (Pannie's is a beauty parlor, but they had barbers on one side. That day and time, there was only one barber, and two others were waiting in line. I had no time to waste, so I went out and walked some more heading for the BPI branch at Lopez Avenue. I withdrew some cash, not too much -- I thought that, if I would need to, I could withdraw some more when I get to Makati.
From BPI, I rode a jeep to KFC. I was surprised to see a lot of people in KFC. Lots of well-off students nowadays. I bought a Fantastic Four bucket meal, and hurriedly headed home. I got on a jeep to Bayan with hardly any passengers, so I could put the food on the seat. However, starting from LB Square, the jeep gradually picked up more passengers. I was sitting behind the driver and, eventually, the jeep was filled-up. The guy to my right kept shifting. When the jeep stopped for a while at Junction, I checked my right hip pocket for my wallet. It was still there. My cellphone and coin purse were on my left side. I was distracted, passing several passengers' fare to the driver, and their change back to them. Suddenly, the guy to my right called for the jeep to stop in front of the market, the jeep in the middle of the road, caught between changing lanes. He quickly got off -- he hadn't even paid! I was distracted once again when I had to pass someone else's fare. I shifted in my seat a bit and I noticed: my wallet was GONE! I looked on the seat, looked under the seat. Quite panicked, I also got off the jeep. I thought I saw him ride behind a motorcycle. I scanned the passing jeeps. The motorcycle I was suspicious of moved. I looked at the passenger, and it wasn't the guy I was looking for. Still, I followed the motorcycle, when it went slowly. It stopped in front of a nearby pawnshop, where the passenger went to. I stood in front of the motorcycle, looking around, but I kept looking back to the motorcycle's driver. He had a bandanna wrapped over his face, so I got more suspicious when he intentionally avoided looking in my direction. I almost wanted to confront him. I weighed my options and I finally gave up. I walked home, stomping my feet, driving my umbrella to the ground every other step.
On my way home, I tried to recall the contents of my wallet. I kept mumbling, "Company ID, Suki card, Company ID, Suki card, Company ID, school ID, Company ID, ..." I was simply furious!
When I got home, I called Kei. After a while, she already had my ATM account blocked, and she had already calmed me down. I will not have my day ruined any more than it was!
Fortunately, my habit of keeping money in several places kicked in earlier. Back in KFC, I placed the change for the bucket meal in another pocket. It was quite a relief! I could still meet with Kei in Makati!
My mis-adventures ends there! The rest of my day was GRRRRR-EAT! :D
Everything was Kei's treat: the expensive (but worthwhile) dinner, the tickets to Fantastic Four and the fare on our way to their place. She even loaned me some cash for the week! Well, the movie tickets were a loan, too, since we usually share expenses on our dates. :p
My birthday? It was one of the HAPPIEST EVER! :D
To quote Cel's txt greeting:
"Birthdays are healthy for you. The more you have, the longer you live. Ü"
Profound, yeah! :p

Am I Too Old?
I had almost the entire day to spend on my PC.
I played with Ubuntu a bit. I finally got WarCraft 3 to work fine with Wine. Before, it didn't render well, and was very slow. It turned out that 3D acceleration wasn't turned on. I don't know why I thought that it would be enabled by default. Now I know what to do at the newly set-up Linux box at the office. =p
For most of the day, I decided to actually do something productive with my PC. I wanted a PC at home primarily because I wanted to have free PC time to learn new stuff as a developer and maybe do a project on the side, if I feel like it. However, since I bought the PC, all I did with it was read comics and manga, watch stuff, play and chat. I didn't even get back to blogging regularly.
So, I started with reading about the very popular Spring Framework. I have already been introduced to its core concepts, and I can pretty much describe what it can do. However, what I knew was very shallow. I wouldn't be able to visualize a project using it, much less build one. Right now, I'm still at the level of introductions to its core components. I have four pieces of reading material open, since whenever I get stuck in a paragraph, I look for another article which I hope would be simpler to read -- but, alas, I would get stuck in a paragraph as well.
It's getting frustrating, because I don't think the problem is about Spring, but instead about me learning new technical stuff.
But, for now..
Why can't I think in Spring??

Weirdness
Each player of this game starts with 6 weird things about you. People who get tagged need to write a blog of their own 6 weird things as well as state the rule clearly. In the end, you need to choose 6 people to be tagged and list their names. Don’t forget to leave a comment that says you are tagged in their comments and tell them to read your blog.
- As much as possible, when eating out, I make sure that I wouldn't order meals already ordered by my companions. If I already wanted something on the menu, I try to shout out my order first before someone else does.
- I used to like telling inside jokes -- where the only person "inside" is me. Worse, I leave my audience hanging and refuse to explain the joke while visibly chuckling.
- Sad endings never make me cry -- happy endings do.
- I have to eat that last grain of rice, wipe away that last smear of sauce and scoop up that thin remaining layer of soup on my plate.
- I am an extreme packrat. I have to think thrice before throwing something that can be kept away. I'm trying to get over this -- around half-a-year ago, I was able to throw away all the ATM receipts that I collected since college. I still keep some of my grade school notebooks, though.
- Although my stuff looks like a mess to someone else, everything is in order!
The tagging stops here (ala JAm)!

What The Heck?!
So, there I was, waiting for the traffic to ebb. I noticed that the far side of the road was already clear, despite the near side still being packed with a variety of vehicles. I waited for some more, and during a lull in traffic, I crossed half-the-road.
I took a peek to the right and, indeed, it was clear. I step over the line in the middle of the road when, suddenly, I had this strange feeling and I looked to my left -- and I had to step back, with a grimace and a silent curse in my head:
Damn you counter-flowing motorcycles (with a passenger, even)! Damn you all to hell!

Always Something There To Remind Me
Aside from those pesky counter-flowing motorcycles that I silently curse while I cross the road, I suddenly got this subtle limp (that Kei keeps pointing out and I keep denying).
..I will never be free, you'll always be a part of meeee...
I just hope it goes away soon.

Sa Totoo Lang..
Sawa na ako sa pagtambay. Wala pang matinong palabas pag Monday.

Still Glad..
Thanks. :)
I still think I'm getting better. I'm pretty confident about tomorrow's check-up. What's worse today is that my upper body is taking all the burden. My abs ache when I flex them, which is quite frequent, especially when I need to get back up from slouching, and it hurts worst when I suddenly have to cough. A few other muscles are letting me feel guilty of excessive reliance: in my neck, my forearms, my right leg. Some bruises also let me feel them a bit late: surprisingly, my left thigh.
Never felt down, though. *grin*

Weird Dreams
---
Last night, I dreamt that I was with Francis (Pineda, officemate) with two others, and we were waiting for a bus to Manila. I felt like I really had to pee. I told them to wait, and I settled to pee on a wall behind a tree, where I saw that others had already peed there. I had just unzipped when a group of street kids encircled me, chanting "P50". There were a couple of "Bawal umihi dito" scribbles on the wall. I just went on, and after zipping back up, I turn around and face a police officer. He said the fine was $20. I was looking for a P50-bill in my purse, and he suddenly pulled out a P100-bill. "Oh, well," I thought. I hitched a ride on their owner-type jeep, and we had gone quite far and it was getting dark, when I remembered that Francis was still waiting for me! I got off and called for a tricycle. As I got on the trike, I noticed that my hair was different. I looked at a mirror and saw that my hair was in dreadlocks.
Then, I woke up and I really had to pee.

Isipin Mo Lang..
Weird hesitation for a lousy kiss.
Rufa Mae.. hehe.. (pause) ... (biglang taas ng trophy, at sigaw ng) Jonathan!
Buti Wala..

*grrrr....gle*
"WTFWTFWTF! BBQ?! Motor amp!"
*kablag*
"Hindi pala masakit, e! Kaya ko tumayo! Kaya ni Will Smith, e kotse pa yung sumapol sa kanya! *nyaaaaa!* Sakit pala!"

Bargain Books
Luckily, I found some quite obscure (for me) titles from a couple of authors I like to read:
The Folk of the Fringe, by Orson Scott Card
Nemesis, by Isaac Asimov
Second Foundation, by Isaac Asimov
This is the third book from the Foundation series. I've read the first book, Foundation, way back in 2nd-year college, and I haven't read the second book, but I thought that it would be nice to have a copy of this. Besides, it was a bargain. :D
I wonder when I will have the time to read these.. Haven't even read my copy of Children of the Mind..

Recap == Recapitulate
November through January were extremely busy months at work. Hardly had anything done on the side. A few things that I can recall (yes, yes, my memory sucks..):
- Christmas stuff
My next eldest brother got us a DVD of the first season of The Medium. I wasn't able to watch all the episodes, but from what I could gather, it was interesting. Psychic District Attorney's consultant is a bit, uhh, un-original, but it isn't always about the originality. :D
Of course, who could forget about the gifts! This is the first, real gift-giving Christmas for me! I actually went Christmas shopping (with Kei, of course :D)! I only got a few gifts, but I didn't mind. I didn't even expect most of them, and most, I really wanted to have. :) I got a new polo from Kei, which I really liked, because it was 5w337. :D I got a coin purse from Fred, and I've been planning to buy one for a couple of months before then. :) I got a pillow from my boss, which I'm conveniently using here at work (Ma even made a pillow case for it! :D). I got a pair or jeans from *gasp* Kei's mom (who was still working in Hong Kong)! Who could ever expect that! And we haven't even met in person! It was a very good fit, and I'm actually wearing it right now. :D I got a violet shirt from my sister. Bleh.- Reunions!
College buddies' reunion with Doc Muriel, our benefactor during our early college years (before *ehem* I blew it.. :p) I was really glad to see the guys again, though I didn't expect the headcount to be that low. Met and ate at Tang City at Glorietta, and later we moved to the lobby lounge of Shangri-La, where Doc was staying. We met his wife there, and some diplomat, whose nationality I can't remember right now. DotA with Aidz, Po, Chico, Jonas and Leks afterwards. :D I don't want to admit it, but Po was REALLY good. :p
End of January, Frank and Ria got married! :D It was a very nice wedding, very simple and solemn, it didn't look flashy -- and everyone else wore a barong. I didn't being underdressed, though. I was too uncomfortable, because I wasn't used to being with some of those in the crowd. Good thing that Cel came. :) Went home earlier than the others, with Cel and Jem. Jon dropped us off somewhere along EDSA, and from there, Cel went his own way to *ehem* work, while Jem and I got on a bus to Alabang, to go home. Coolness. :)- Badminton Saturday!
Inee and Kaye organized a badminton session for the first Saturday of February. The meeting place was *chuckle* our place. :) Inee came first (and on time!) at 10am. :) Kaye was next, then Ryan, then Fred, Herlin and Tina, and, last (but the best on my list! :D) came Kei. :) We played at Smash Box, just by the entrance to Marymount Subdivision. Physical exertion, yeah! I really miss sports. :) Afterwards, we had lunch at Big Dad's at the LB Square, home of the best sisig I ever had! :D We stuffed ourselves silly, and when we got the bill, we were surprised that it was only P500+! For the quantity and quality of the food, it would have cost us twice or maybe thrice in Makati. :D
That's all for now, since I still have the drive to work. :p

--Interruption to my recaps--
Tiring and trying day!
Since last week, we were already planning to send our dogs, Janvit and KC (our new puppy, named after our (late) favorite pet dog), to the VetMed college for their anti-rabies shots this week, VetMed Week. I volunteered to handle Janvit, and Wel would take KC (... after more than a decade, I have always thought that our (late) favorite pet dog's name was spelled "Casey" -- until a couple of weeks ago, when my eldest brother spelled it "KC" in a text message.. I am sad).
So, this morning, after Ma checked with the VetMed animal hospital for their schedule, we prepared to go there. Ma got out Janvit's record, and went out to try and borrow a churchmate's jeepney. Earlier, we didn't have any plans on how to bring the dogs to the animal hospital. By default, Wel and I were going to walk the dogs. We also considered taking a tricycle. Anyway, Ma returned and said that the jeep was on its way.
The jeep arrived and parked in front of our gate. We quickly got the dogs by their leashes and went out. A minor delay -- KC didn't want to get out of the gate! I carried her on to the back of the jeep, and we went on our way. Right after the jeep started, KC scampered under the seat! We assumed she would be alright there, and let her be. Janvit, on the other hand, was terrible. He kept shifting and moving back and forth, and I had to restrain him, or he might jump of the side of the jeep! We were worried that he would be that restless for the entire trip. Unfortunately, we completely underestimated him. Once we got to the highway, he became beyond restless -- he was doing his crazy thing! He kept trying to get on the seats and kept barking at people and cars, and I had to make sure that I had a firm grip on his leash and on him! I merely tried to ignore the drool all over my arms and legs -- the drool was somehow bearable (I wipe it off his fur), but its stink was horrible. Alas, there was nothing I could do.
We arrived at the animal hospital in a while, and I was partly relieved. Janvit got off the jeep quickly, and I had to carry KC again, this time, off the jeep. I was beginning to relax, now that we were back on the ground, when the owners of the jeep met with us -- they also brought their dog. Janvit + strange female dog == Doggie Hulk! Janvit went amok, and somehow got loose of his choker (which I told Ma earlier that it was tight enough.. sucks..). I was stunned. Janvit immediately went after the other dog's hind leg, flipping her on her back. She fought back, and from there, no one could go near them. Good for us, we were surrounded by a lots of student vets. This caucasian guy went after the brawling dogs with a broom, while another fetched a pail of water. After several splashes, the dogs finally calmed down.
I rushed to Janvit to get his chain back around his neck, this time, making sure that there would be no room to wriggle away. The other dog quickly hid behind a shrub. It turned out that she sustained puncture wounds on her hind legs. She was treated and prescribed some antibiotics. Janvit? We left him tied to a post, soaked on one side. It was the first time I was truly mad at him. In retrospect, I guess I was really mad at myself. Janvit wouldn't have turned out that way, if we spent more time with him when he was growing up. He grew up alone trapped in our yard, so he wasn't used to seeing other dogs, other people and other places that anything new to him will make him very excited. Well, that's that.
The anti-rabies shots were administered quickly. We stayed a bit longer, since we opted for KC to get some other shots. It was her first time at the vet, so she also had to be weighed and I was interviewed about her eating habits and general well-being. Those were done inside the hospital building. We left Janvit outside.
On our way home, Janvit was as loud and restless as he was earlier, although he did calm down a bit, half-way through the trip. Finally, he got exhausted.
Back home, I quickly took another bath. I stank. Like dog. Janvit drool was all over me and my clothes. I also had a lot of scratches in my arms.
It was already around 11:30am, after all that. I had a quick lunch, and I then went to work.

Catching Up
One word: WORK.
Some other words: Too much work eats up my PC time. I can only get online conveniently here at the office. So there.
---
Lots of missed calendar events. My January calendar is quite bare. :-"
---
I'm not really affected by this.. I just find it.. mm.. amusing?
I got home not-too-early-not-too-late one time, and I caught a commercial where they were promoting Piolo Pascual and Sam Milby's concert. People were pouring out of the venue, and they were being interviewed, just as we usually see for local movies. There were girls, middle-aged women, some elderly women and, of course, gay men. They were all raving about the concert. I saw this around a week after our carpool heard Mo Twister saying on the radio that: no straight guy would go and watch that concert. And Erik Santos shows up in the commercial saying that those two guys had talent.
---
This is old, but relieving news: the Naruto anime filler episodes are finally over!!!
One-and-a-half years of filler episodes.. What were they thinking?!
The manga is far ahead already, and events are *gasp* already progressing. Somehow, my interest in the story is coming back.
---
I took the "Which Superhero am I?" quiz again, and I came out AGAIN as Green Lantern. Bleh.
---
Time to go home (from the office, yeah)!
Starting Anew
I briefly reviewed my archives and if I'm not mistaken, January 2007 is the first month since my blog started that didn't have any archive posts.
Grrr. Bad blogger.
Anyway.
I got to work a bit earlier than usual, a few minutes past 9am. It only took my around 45 minutes to get to the office from home! :D
Surprisingly, today was not what I expected it to be -- it seemed like one of those Mondays way back in 2005. No bosses, no foreigners, no visitors. And that only meant one thing: Monday -- is DotA day. Sweet.
No work also meant not having any excuse to NOT post.
To begin my.. mmm.. preparations for my comeback post, I open my online feed readers -- 244 unread posts says Bloglines! Google Reader just indicated it as 100+.. *whew*
Seeing that I had a LOT of catching-up to do, I first drafted an outline of what I would like to post about. It seemed a bit long. I decided to go ahead with the catching-up.
After I finished going through my blog roll, it was time to post something already, before I proceed with the --lemme see-- *gasp* 400+ link spam from my officemates.
I open up my Blogger account, after a looong time, and I still see the link where you could migrate your old Blogger account to the new version. A couple of months ago, I kept trying to migrate, but Blogger won't let me, saying that my blog had features that still weren't available for the Beta version. But I still tried to migrate, every time I saw the link, hoping that, well, I could. And today, I did not get any warning. I am actually eligible to migrate to the new Blogger. I stopped for a moment to process the fact. I looked around the page -- the Blogger Beta logo had the word "Beta" crossed-out! Yey! :p
I went through the steps, which were actually quite trivial, since I already have a Google Account, and I arrive at my Blogger Dashboard. There, I suddenly stopped again. I saw the blog that I reserved way back in May 2005 that I intended to transfer to, after a whole year with this blog. I didn't really intend For the Mail! to last this long. I even remember someone telling me that it would be cool if I kept using For the Mail!, even if it has out-lived its purpose.
Now, I have decided to move to a new blog.
