Breaking Fast

Imagine that. My last post was more than half-a-year ago, and it was a recap post. Great.

My online presence has dwindled a lot these days. I rarely update the social networking sites I pay attention to. I did a ningas-kugon for the local tech communities. Just great.

I'm still feeling groovy enough. Honestly, I am! And that's great!

Yyyyyup, Still Alive

Almost 3 months since I last posted. =p

Most bloggers try to avoid bullet points -- but I don't! Bwahahaha!

What's up?

» Mark mirrored his blog in Multiply?!

Although I already reacted (quite aversely -- his Blogger blog had over 300 posts and my Multiply account had email notifications turned on, so just at the time when I was checking my mail on my cellphone, I had 369 new messages in my Inbox! A dozen of those notifications actually fell into Spam.. Nice one.. =p), I haven't asked him why. I don't think stuff like that needs to be justified.. Hehehe..

» Mike shares A LOT OF STUFF from the intarwebz..

His blog is quiet -- his Google Reader Shared Items ROOAAARRR!!!

» I have a new job. I started way back in November, marked by a very annoying, almost negligible and lame post. =p

  • I finally convinced Caesar to give our company a chance! =D

  • Randell, whom I worked with in my previous job, is back to being my officemate! =p

  • When I first joined the company, I was the only one from UPLB. Now there are 4 of us! =D

  • I've been into Java since way back in college. This year, I'm hitchhiking on the Ruby on Rails bandwagon. =p

  • PhRUG (Philippine Ruby Users' Group) held their last meet-up at our office! It was cool! There was pizza even! =D

» With the new job in Bonifacio Global City, I actually survived 2 months of commuting to work -- from LB! >_<

And after those 2 months, I finally have a place to stay in Makati!

» A-ha! I join the likes of Mike, Kaye and Randell..

I bought a PSP last week! Serves me well, since I'm away from my PC at home.. =p Free wi-fi at Burger King Glorietta, yey!

» I still like (fake) tennis..

But the live action Prince of Tennis movie was disappointing (except for seeing the special moves "in real life"..).

So, I reeeaaally like Virtua Tennis 3 for the PSP.

  • Federer was beatable in the World Tour compared to a Very Hard Exhibition match.

  • Juan Carlos Ferrero was a nightmare for my player! I couldn't beat him! His description in the game was Strong Forehand, if I recall correctly, but it should have been Technical Player! I hate his drop shots and stupid lobs. Despite my animosity, I learned a lot from his play style.

  • My preferred doubles partners were Nadal and Hingis. Because I also prefer them in real life. =p

  • I like how the game had special dialogue to the player I beat the most (Nalbandian, who emphasizes that he hasn't beaten me yet =p).

» Tekken 6 was released in the Philippines -- earlier than in North America and Europe!

Thanks, Namco! =D I've only tried the game one night/three games, but the only thing I didn't like was how the characters were too shiny. But Nap said that that was how we saw the PS2 version of TTT, so we would probably get used to it soon. Yoshimitsu (punch costume) scared me!

» I have a new nephew!

Ate gave birth to Ash last week! =) (I didn't bother visiting during the long weekend?! :-o)

» New puppy!

Ma named her Jenny. She's hyper!

» This is an old pet peeve: I can't post on Blogger on the Opera Mini!

So when I wanted to post something, I had to do so via email. Not that I've been blogging much recently. =p

These aren't even good bullet-points!

I KNOW I missed a lot of stuff (intentionally? subconsciously? =p), but this is already a lot for a comeback post! Not a lot of details but still a lot of: BULLET-POINTS!

Yarrr..

Catching Up

Of course, I have to give a lame excuse why I haven't posted for some time.

One word: WORK.

Some other words: Too much work eats up my PC time. I can only get online conveniently here at the office. So there.

---

Lots of missed calendar events. My January calendar is quite bare. :-"

---

I'm not really affected by this.. I just find it.. mm.. amusing?

I got home not-too-early-not-too-late one time, and I caught a commercial where they were promoting Piolo Pascual and Sam Milby's concert. People were pouring out of the venue, and they were being interviewed, just as we usually see for local movies. There were girls, middle-aged women, some elderly women and, of course, gay men. They were all raving about the concert. I saw this around a week after our carpool heard Mo Twister saying on the radio that: no straight guy would go and watch that concert. And Erik Santos shows up in the commercial saying that those two guys had talent.

---

This is old, but relieving news: the Naruto anime filler episodes are finally over!!!

One-and-a-half years of filler episodes.. What were they thinking?!

The manga is far ahead already, and events are *gasp* already progressing. Somehow, my interest in the story is coming back.

---

I took the "Which Superhero am I?" quiz again, and I came out AGAIN as Green Lantern. Bleh.

---

Time to go home (from the office, yeah)!

Starting Anew

Yeah.

I briefly reviewed my archives and if I'm not mistaken, January 2007 is the first month since my blog started that didn't have any archive posts.

Grrr. Bad blogger.

Anyway.

I got to work a bit earlier than usual, a few minutes past 9am. It only took my around 45 minutes to get to the office from home! :D

Surprisingly, today was not what I expected it to be -- it seemed like one of those Mondays way back in 2005. No bosses, no foreigners, no visitors. And that only meant one thing: Monday -- is DotA day. Sweet.

No work also meant not having any excuse to NOT post.

To begin my.. mmm.. preparations for my comeback post, I open my online feed readers -- 244 unread posts says Bloglines! Google Reader just indicated it as 100+.. *whew*

Seeing that I had a LOT of catching-up to do, I first drafted an outline of what I would like to post about. It seemed a bit long. I decided to go ahead with the catching-up.

After I finished going through my blog roll, it was time to post something already, before I proceed with the --lemme see-- *gasp* 400+ link spam from my officemates.

I open up my Blogger account, after a looong time, and I still see the link where you could migrate your old Blogger account to the new version. A couple of months ago, I kept trying to migrate, but Blogger won't let me, saying that my blog had features that still weren't available for the Beta version. But I still tried to migrate, every time I saw the link, hoping that, well, I could. And today, I did not get any warning. I am actually eligible to migrate to the new Blogger. I stopped for a moment to process the fact. I looked around the page -- the Blogger Beta logo had the word "Beta" crossed-out! Yey! :p

I went through the steps, which were actually quite trivial, since I already have a Google Account, and I arrive at my Blogger Dashboard. There, I suddenly stopped again. I saw the blog that I reserved way back in May 2005 that I intended to transfer to, after a whole year with this blog. I didn't really intend For the Mail! to last this long. I even remember someone telling me that it would be cool if I kept using For the Mail!, even if it has out-lived its purpose.

Now, I have decided to move to a new blog.
