Pending Task

I have to remember to update this blog's template..

Recap == Recapitulate

Yeah.

November through January were extremely busy months at work. Hardly had anything done on the side. A few things that I can recall (yes, yes, my memory sucks..):

Christmas stuff

My next eldest brother got us a DVD of the first season of The Medium. I wasn't able to watch all the episodes, but from what I could gather, it was interesting. Psychic District Attorney's consultant is a bit, uhh, un-original, but it isn't always about the originality. :D

Of course, who could forget about the gifts! This is the first, real gift-giving Christmas for me! I actually went Christmas shopping (with Kei, of course :D)! I only got a few gifts, but I didn't mind. I didn't even expect most of them, and most, I really wanted to have. :) I got a new polo from Kei, which I really liked, because it was 5w337. :D I got a coin purse from Fred, and I've been planning to buy one for a couple of months before then. :) I got a pillow from my boss, which I'm conveniently using here at work (Ma even made a pillow case for it! :D). I got a pair or jeans from *gasp* Kei's mom (who was still working in Hong Kong)! Who could ever expect that! And we haven't even met in person! It was a very good fit, and I'm actually wearing it right now. :D I got a violet shirt from my sister. Bleh.

Reunions!

College buddies' reunion with Doc Muriel, our benefactor during our early college years (before *ehem* I blew it.. :p) I was really glad to see the guys again, though I didn't expect the headcount to be that low. Met and ate at Tang City at Glorietta, and later we moved to the lobby lounge of Shangri-La, where Doc was staying. We met his wife there, and some diplomat, whose nationality I can't remember right now. DotA with Aidz, Po, Chico, Jonas and Leks afterwards. :D I don't want to admit it, but Po was REALLY good. :p

End of January, Frank and Ria got married! :D It was a very nice wedding, very simple and solemn, it didn't look flashy -- and everyone else wore a barong. I didn't being underdressed, though. I was too uncomfortable, because I wasn't used to being with some of those in the crowd. Good thing that Cel came. :) Went home earlier than the others, with Cel and Jem. Jon dropped us off somewhere along EDSA, and from there, Cel went his own way to *ehem* work, while Jem and I got on a bus to Alabang, to go home. Coolness. :)

Badminton Saturday!

Inee and Kaye organized a badminton session for the first Saturday of February. The meeting place was *chuckle* our place. :) Inee came first (and on time!) at 10am. :) Kaye was next, then Ryan, then Fred, Herlin and Tina, and, last (but the best on my list! :D) came Kei. :) We played at Smash Box, just by the entrance to Marymount Subdivision. Physical exertion, yeah! I really miss sports. :) Afterwards, we had lunch at Big Dad's at the LB Square, home of the best sisig I ever had! :D We stuffed ourselves silly, and when we got the bill, we were surprised that it was only P500+! For the quantity and quality of the food, it would have cost us twice or maybe thrice in Makati. :D

That's all for now, since I still have the drive to work. :p

--Interruption to my recaps--

Tiring and trying day!

Since last week, we were already planning to send our dogs, Janvit and KC (our new puppy, named after our (late) favorite pet dog), to the VetMed college for their anti-rabies shots this week, VetMed Week. I volunteered to handle Janvit, and Wel would take KC (... after more than a decade, I have always thought that our (late) favorite pet dog's name was spelled "Casey" -- until a couple of weeks ago, when my eldest brother spelled it "KC" in a text message.. I am sad).

So, this morning, after Ma checked with the VetMed animal hospital for their schedule, we prepared to go there. Ma got out Janvit's record, and went out to try and borrow a churchmate's jeepney. Earlier, we didn't have any plans on how to bring the dogs to the animal hospital. By default, Wel and I were going to walk the dogs. We also considered taking a tricycle. Anyway, Ma returned and said that the jeep was on its way.

The jeep arrived and parked in front of our gate. We quickly got the dogs by their leashes and went out. A minor delay -- KC didn't want to get out of the gate! I carried her on to the back of the jeep, and we went on our way. Right after the jeep started, KC scampered under the seat! We assumed she would be alright there, and let her be. Janvit, on the other hand, was terrible. He kept shifting and moving back and forth, and I had to restrain him, or he might jump of the side of the jeep! We were worried that he would be that restless for the entire trip. Unfortunately, we completely underestimated him. Once we got to the highway, he became beyond restless -- he was doing his crazy thing! He kept trying to get on the seats and kept barking at people and cars, and I had to make sure that I had a firm grip on his leash and on him! I merely tried to ignore the drool all over my arms and legs -- the drool was somehow bearable (I wipe it off his fur), but its stink was horrible. Alas, there was nothing I could do.

We arrived at the animal hospital in a while, and I was partly relieved. Janvit got off the jeep quickly, and I had to carry KC again, this time, off the jeep. I was beginning to relax, now that we were back on the ground, when the owners of the jeep met with us -- they also brought their dog. Janvit + strange female dog == Doggie Hulk! Janvit went amok, and somehow got loose of his choker (which I told Ma earlier that it was tight enough.. sucks..). I was stunned. Janvit immediately went after the other dog's hind leg, flipping her on her back. She fought back, and from there, no one could go near them. Good for us, we were surrounded by a lots of student vets. This caucasian guy went after the brawling dogs with a broom, while another fetched a pail of water. After several splashes, the dogs finally calmed down.

I rushed to Janvit to get his chain back around his neck, this time, making sure that there would be no room to wriggle away. The other dog quickly hid behind a shrub. It turned out that she sustained puncture wounds on her hind legs. She was treated and prescribed some antibiotics. Janvit? We left him tied to a post, soaked on one side. It was the first time I was truly mad at him. In retrospect, I guess I was really mad at myself. Janvit wouldn't have turned out that way, if we spent more time with him when he was growing up. He grew up alone trapped in our yard, so he wasn't used to seeing other dogs, other people and other places that anything new to him will make him very excited. Well, that's that.

The anti-rabies shots were administered quickly. We stayed a bit longer, since we opted for KC to get some other shots. It was her first time at the vet, so she also had to be weighed and I was interviewed about her eating habits and general well-being. Those were done inside the hospital building. We left Janvit outside.

On our way home, Janvit was as loud and restless as he was earlier, although he did calm down a bit, half-way through the trip. Finally, he got exhausted.

Back home, I quickly took another bath. I stank. Like dog. Janvit drool was all over me and my clothes. I also had a lot of scratches in my arms.

It was already around 11:30am, after all that. I had a quick lunch, and I then went to work.

Light work here at the office. Light, but lots. Some urgent. All in all, not too stressful. :)

Catching Up

Of course, I have to give a lame excuse why I haven't posted for some time.

One word: WORK.

Some other words: Too much work eats up my PC time. I can only get online conveniently here at the office. So there.

---

Lots of missed calendar events. My January calendar is quite bare. :-"

---

I'm not really affected by this.. I just find it.. mm.. amusing?

I got home not-too-early-not-too-late one time, and I caught a commercial where they were promoting Piolo Pascual and Sam Milby's concert. People were pouring out of the venue, and they were being interviewed, just as we usually see for local movies. There were girls, middle-aged women, some elderly women and, of course, gay men. They were all raving about the concert. I saw this around a week after our carpool heard Mo Twister saying on the radio that: no straight guy would go and watch that concert. And Erik Santos shows up in the commercial saying that those two guys had talent.

---

This is old, but relieving news: the Naruto anime filler episodes are finally over!!!

One-and-a-half years of filler episodes.. What were they thinking?!

The manga is far ahead already, and events are *gasp* already progressing. Somehow, my interest in the story is coming back.

---

I took the "Which Superhero am I?" quiz again, and I came out AGAIN as Green Lantern. Bleh.

---

Time to go home (from the office, yeah)!

Starting Anew

Yeah.

I briefly reviewed my archives and if I'm not mistaken, January 2007 is the first month since my blog started that didn't have any archive posts.

Grrr. Bad blogger.

Anyway.

I got to work a bit earlier than usual, a few minutes past 9am. It only took my around 45 minutes to get to the office from home! :D

Surprisingly, today was not what I expected it to be -- it seemed like one of those Mondays way back in 2005. No bosses, no foreigners, no visitors. And that only meant one thing: Monday -- is DotA day. Sweet.

No work also meant not having any excuse to NOT post.

To begin my.. mmm.. preparations for my comeback post, I open my online feed readers -- 244 unread posts says Bloglines! Google Reader just indicated it as 100+.. *whew*

Seeing that I had a LOT of catching-up to do, I first drafted an outline of what I would like to post about. It seemed a bit long. I decided to go ahead with the catching-up.

After I finished going through my blog roll, it was time to post something already, before I proceed with the --lemme see-- *gasp* 400+ link spam from my officemates.

I open up my Blogger account, after a looong time, and I still see the link where you could migrate your old Blogger account to the new version. A couple of months ago, I kept trying to migrate, but Blogger won't let me, saying that my blog had features that still weren't available for the Beta version. But I still tried to migrate, every time I saw the link, hoping that, well, I could. And today, I did not get any warning. I am actually eligible to migrate to the new Blogger. I stopped for a moment to process the fact. I looked around the page -- the Blogger Beta logo had the word "Beta" crossed-out! Yey! :p

I went through the steps, which were actually quite trivial, since I already have a Google Account, and I arrive at my Blogger Dashboard. There, I suddenly stopped again. I saw the blog that I reserved way back in May 2005 that I intended to transfer to, after a whole year with this blog. I didn't really intend For the Mail! to last this long. I even remember someone telling me that it would be cool if I kept using For the Mail!, even if it has out-lived its purpose.

Now, I have decided to move to a new blog.
